Transition Process of Landscape Through Changing Tropical Gardens from Productive Function into Recreational Purpose

The urban gardens are under transformation that results in the modification of function, activity, hardscape, softscape gardens. aim this paper is to analyse transitional process from productive function recreational purposes Kigali city, Rwanda. methodology research was designed qualitative methods such as interview, observation, photography, sketching, mapping, and graphical analysis. findings identified transition has affected both configuration composition refers hardscape including buildings, walls, paving, accessibility, includes trees, shrubs, flowers, pots, furniture. Additionally, resulted changing functions activities leisure private semi-private semi-public. This could be addressed new generation social middle classes city who raising needs, desires, expectations area increase interaction through semi-public activities.
